LinQ boats Press Release, Friday 25th June, 2010
LinQ boats, of the Netherlands, launches its radical CQ-6 canting keel, high performance sportsboat.
Sportsboat sailing takes a significant leap forward in performance with the introduction of the new 5.81m (19 feet) LinQ boats CQ-6, the most technically advanced boat of its kind on the market today.
The key to this pocket rocket’s stunning performance is the electronically controlled hydraulic canting keel system, which provides massive amounts of righting moment at the touch of a button. The keel takes only 8 seconds to fully cant from one side to the other, yet incredibly is also retractable, making it possible to easily put the boat on a trailer.
Featuring twin rudders and a powerful, high aspect-ratio sail plan, high-tech materials are used throughout; including a carbon rig.
“The closest thing you can get to a Volvo Ocean Racing Experience, true canting keel sailing. A real state of the art one-design racer; can’t wait to take it to the race course. I love it!” Gerd-Jan Poortman. North Sails and Team Delta-Lloyd / Team ABNAMRO VO-70
“We are planing upwind in surprisingly low true wind speeds, without even the need to hike out. This can cause a great deal of embarrassment to some of the larger boats around us that can’t keep up! When you consider the performance of the boat against the purchase and running costs you can see it represents unrivalled value for money and this is exactly what we set out to achieve. ” Jurian Rademaker, creator of the CQ-6 and MD of LinQ boats.
The CQ-6 is intended for one-design racing and the growing team behind the concept is working hard to establish international fleets and local, national and international racing circuits.
The company has just announced the introduction of two additional simplified versions of the boat: ‘Sport’ and ‘Trainer’ both with a fixed keel and with various rig configurations as their names suggest. All versions can be upgraded to the full, canting keel racing ‘Regatta’ spec and prices for the most basic version start at €26,900 ex VAT
LinQboats is in the process of establishing a network of international dealers, with representatives already in Holland, Switzerland, Germany and Belgium
Anyone interested in becoming a dealer is encouraged to contact the company as soon as possible.
The boat will be exhibited at various boat shows throughout Europe and interested parties can sign up for a trial sail at one of the many demonstration events that the company has planned by logging onto the LinQ boats website.
